LEWISTON — A Massachusetts man remained in jail Monday night on charges of reckless conduct with a firearm related to a shooting Friday and being a fugitive from justice, according to officials.

Mohamed Liban, 24, of Springfield, Massachusetts, was arrested at 3:17 a.m. Saturday on Knox Street, a corrections officer at the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn said Monday night.

Police were called to the area of 442 Webster St. at 11:30 p.m. Friday after several 911 calls reporting gunfire. Several shell casings were found outside the residence, though no one was hurt, officials said.

Liban was charged in that incident, Lewiston police said in a news release.

“It appears the shooting stemmed from an earlier dispute and was not random,” the statement said.

Liban is wanted in Ohio on several warrants, which prompted the fugitive charge, Lewiston police said.
