NORWAY – Arthur E. “Bud” Holt, 92, died Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, at Stephens Memorial Hospital. He was born in North Waterford, on July 22, 1930, the son of Chester and Edith (Merrill) Holt. He attended Bridgton Academy graduating with the class of 1950. Bud worked as for North Waterford spool until they closed and then for Saunders in Bridgton. On Oct. 15, 1953, Bud married Shirley Thompson and together they enjoyed 69 years together.

Bud was a member of the North Waterford Congregational Church, where he served as trustee. He enjoyed Tinkering, collecting old junk, and going to camp, in his younger years he liked snowmobiling and motorcycles.

Bud is survived by his wife Shirley, his two daughters, Carolyn Cairns and her husband Reginald, and Sally Holt, two grandsons, Derek and Brandon Cairns, one great-grandson Kayden Cairns, a brother Arlin Holt and his wife Brenda, and a sister Sharon McAllister and her husband Dennis. He was predeceased by his parents, a daughter Wendy Holt, a son Alan Holt, and two sisters, Patricia Buck and her husband Carroll, and Eleanor Kimball and her husband Robert.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, May 26, 2023, at Woodlawn Cemetery in North Waterford.
