The Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School’s Senior Class Project this year is a fishing derby ON Pennesseewassee Lake in Norway.

The family-friendly event is scheduled on Sunday, Feb. 12, and there will be cash prizes.

The same day, Traps for Kids will host a “kids only” derby on Long Lake in Harrison and Naples, with all fish weighed in at the boat launch in Harrison. For information about that one, call Jeffrey Witham at 207-890-6367.

On Saturday, Feb. 11, the Royal River Rod and Gun Club will host a derby on Lower Range Pond State Park in Poland, with cash prizes for the top catch. Call Will Bartlett for information, 207-576-0433.

And, if other winter activities are keeping you too busy and you don’t have time to participate in a derby in February, there are options through mid-March, including the last Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife licensed derby of the year hosted by Operation Reboot Outdoors at Ellis Pond in Roxbury.
