RUMFORD – Mr. Marcel L. Martineau, 83, passed away Monday Jan. 23, 2023 at Pinnacle Health and Rehab. Formerly he was a long-time resident of Rumford and Milton, Vt.

Born in Rumford on March 28, 1939, he was the son of Joseph and Blanche (Boivin) Martineau. He was a graduate from Stephens High School, class of 1959. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps as LCPL from 1957 to 1963. Marcel worked at an automobile salvage yard, known as B&M Salvage Yard in Milton, Vt. for over 15 years and then for B&B Auto Salvage yard in Milton, Vt. for another 13 years until his retirement when they moved back to Rumford in April 2001.

Marcel was married in Dixfield on his birthday, March 28, 1970 to Doris Nila Knox.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Martineau of Rumford; daughters Tracy Cloutier and husband Ray of Buckfield and Dawn Stec and husband Keith of New Jersey, son, Joseph Martineau of Wilton, stepsons Michael Wood and wife Ghia Leoncia of Virginia, Stephen Wood and wife Judy of Virginia; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Monday May 15 at the Greenwood Cemetery in Dixfield. Arrangements are under the direction of the Meader & Son Funeral Home, 3 Franklin St., Rumford.
