50 Years Ago: 1973
Auburn Mayor John R. Linnell, issued a statement Friday in which he supports planned public expressions related to the cease fire in Vietnam.
In a statement issued from his office, Mayor Linnell said, “As the longest and most frustrating war in our history now comes to an end, I heartily encourage the concept of marking the signing of the Cease Fire Agreement as a community, by ringing of church bells, wire whistle and any outward expression of relief and Thanksgiving that we as a community wish to express.”
25 Years Ago: 1998
