Margery P. (Rowe) Swan

NORWAY – Margery P. (Rowe) Swan, 89, passed away peacefully on Jan. 27, 2023 at the Norway Center for Health and Rehabilitation. She was born Dec. 2, 1934, in Bethel, the only child of the late Herbert and Edith Rowe.

Margery attended Bethel Primary and Elementary schools in Bethel. She attended and graduated from Gould Academy in 1952. She attended Northeastern Business College and accepted a secretarial position at the E.L. Tibbits Spool Company in Locke Mills, and also was the bookkeeper for the town of Greenwood or 10 years. On May 31, 1953, Margery married Harry Zachary Swan Jr. of Locke Mills where they also raised three sons.

Margery was a loving mother and wife, and her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving family, Pastor Bruce and Debra Swan of Springfield, Jeffrey Swan of Rumford, Todd Swan of Bryant Pond; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; nephew Richard W. Wakefield and family; and cousins Tammy MacDoumand and Jack Chapman.

She was predeceased by her loving parents, Herbert and Edith Rowe; and her husband of 51 years Harry Swan Jr.

Margery’s interests were going to the family camp, camping with friends in their motorhome, family pets, identifying birds and their songs, belief in Jesus Christ and teaching Sunday School classes, making new friends in the Oxford, Norway and South Paris areas, and enjoying church services and bible study at the Oxford Advent Christian Church.

Margery will be buried next to her husband at the Riverside Cemetery in Bethel. Celebration of life date to be determined.
