BETHEL — The Ordinance Review Committee will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 5:30 p.m. at Town Office to discuss a short-term rental ordinance, confirmed Randy Thurston, code enforcement officer.

Thurston wrote to five or six real estate brokers, asking them to spread the word within the market. “I got responses within five minutes. So they are panicked about it,” he said.

By code, any fees that might be recommended by the ordinance board will have to be approved by the select board.  “I have been getting calls every single day – since that leaked out – from people from out of state.”

The twice monthly meetings typically are unattended. “By the response I’m getting, I may need to rent another room,” said Thurston.
