Lumber is at the site on Libby Hill for a new stable to be built at Community Hall after which the socials will be resumed.
50 Years Ago: 1973
The Couples’ Club of Congregation Beth Abraham is having a party in the vestry of the Auburn synagogue Saturday evening, Feb. 3. A social hour with hors d’oeuvres is scheduled for 8 o’clock and a roast beef dinner will be served at 9, followed by entertainment and dancing to live music. The entertainment will be presented by Mel Palmer, a singing comedian.
25 Years Ago: 1998
Maine skiers Julie Parisien and Kirsten Clark are headed to Nagano, Japan, to compete in the 1998 Winter Olympics, the U.S. Alpine ski team announced Monday night.
Comeback veteran Parisien, an Auburn native now living in Illinois, is considered a leader of the U.S. team, along with superstar downhiller Picabo Street, and the surprisingly Kristina Koznick.
