LEWISTON – Joan F. Baril, 80, passed away peacefully on Feb. 1, 2023, with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Lewiston on Feb. 13, 1942, daughter of the late Lorenzo Fontaine and Yvonne Roy. She was a graduate of Lewiston High School, 1960. She worked at Auerbach Shoe in Brunswick and New Departure in Connecticut until she retired. She married the love of her life, Pierre Baril, in 1971. They moved to Bristol, Conn. where they raised their wonderful son, Daniel.

Joan loved cooking, crafting and spending time with her family, playing cards. She also made a few trips to the casino. Her door was always open and soup was always ready. She had a favorite neighbor who played at the house all the time, Matthew Cannuli.

She is survived by her husband, Pierre Baril; son, Daniel Baril and wife, Kim of Bristol, Conn.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; and siblings Yvette Latuscha, Normand Fontaine, Rita Beaudoin, and Robert Fontaine.

Visiting hours will be held at Fortin\Auburn on Friday, Feb. 10 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. followed by a committal service at St Peter’s Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.
