To the Editor:
I’d like to express my appreciation for the marvelous work that Rose Lincoln has been doing since she came on as staff writer for the Citizen. Like so many local newspapers disappearing around the country, ours was shrinking fast and I feared we might lose it. Then, along came Rose!
She is filling the paper with a variety of articles and photographs that are well-written, timely, and pertinent to local concerns. Combine all that with the return of the crossword puzzle and I am a much relieved and happier subscriber.
Hard work deserves recognition. Thank you, Rose, for your important role in helping to keep us a closer-knit community through sharing news of our friends, family, and neighbors.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
