Volunteers from A Hand Up, a sober living house, and The Maine Prisoner Re-Entry Network are working over the weekend to remove the pews and tear up the carpeting. The church is being “reinvented” as Trinity Commons, a multipurpose community center. “Church will continue, but it won’t be the only thing. We are in the neighborhood and for the neighborhood,” says Klara Tammany, the senior warden of Trinity Church. The floor is scheduled to be refinished, and a labyrinth inspired by Chartres Cathedral in France is to be painted on the floor.
