AUBURN — Two drivers were injured Monday evening after their vehicles collided on state Route 136.

The crash, reported about 4:10 p.m., occurred in the area of 1596 Riverside Drive.

Auburn Fire Department Battalion Chief Don Flanagan said both drivers were pinned, and the Jaws of Life was used to extricate them. They were transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with serious injuries but did not appear to be life-threatening, Flanagan said.

There were no passengers.

The road was closed for about an hour and a half, he said, and was reopened by about 5:45 p.m.

Flanagan said Auburn Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
