GILEAD — After the roofing materials in repair of the leaky roof have been moved, and the unheated room has been warmed during the day using a wood-burning stove and a fan, the Gilead Town Hall, at 12 Depot Street will hold town meeting.

The meeting is scheduled for Saturday, March 25 at 7 p.m.

Article two will be to vote for a selectman and for a Gilead school board member for SAD-44.

Of the 175 registered Gilead voters, Town Clerk, Patsy Cox expects 30-40 at the meeting. The wood stove blower fan will be off, so they can hear each other and hopefully the power will stay on. Two years ago they had to use the lights from their their phones to finish the meeting.

Select Board member, Alfred Leighton’s position is up in March. It is unclear if he will run for re-election. If someone younger wants the position, he’ll move aside, said Cox.

When Town meeting ends, they will swear in the new selectman. ‘It’s not an early night,” she said.

Select Board chair, Freeman Corriveau and member, Jon Howe are not up for re-election.

The warrant is not completed, but Cox expects it will be signed off so they can have it to voters approximately a month in advance of the meeting.
