Goaltending has been pretty solid for the Twin City Thunder in February.

Trey Miller was named USPHL NCDC North Goalie of the Week for picking up three wins last week.

On Thursday, it was Christopher Jackson’s turn in a 1-0 victory over the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Knights at the Presidents’ Day Showcase in Foxboro, Massachusetts. Jackson turned away 30 shots in his first start since Jan. 31 in the Thunder’s fourth win in the past five games.

“He played real well, and he has been focused and chomping at the bit to get his opportunity again,” Thunder coach Dan Hodge said of Jackson. “After Trey dropped one yesterday, we made the switch. (Jackson) played real well. He made a lot of nice saves and looked comfortable in there.”

Twin City (19-19-3, 41 points), the fifth-place team in the North Division, is seven points back of the Boston Advantage (22-16-4, 48 points) for the fourth and final playoff spot.

Edvin Robertsson gave the Thunder a 1-0 lead midway through the second period. Forward Tristan Rand and defenseman Cullen McCormick provided the assists.

“He started with Wilkes-Barre at the beginning of the year. It was nice to see him score and see it hold up as the game-winner,” Hodge said of Robertsson. “It was good for him. He was out of the lineup for a couple of games. He turned around and is playing a lot harder and playing with more intensity. He’s getting his opportunities.”

Marks Slavinskis-Repe made 23 saves for the Knights (14-22-5, 33 points).

Both teams were scoreless on the power play.

The Thunder return to action at the showcase — which pits North Division teams against South Division teams — on Friday against the Mercer Chiefs at the Foxboro Sports Center at 5 p.m.

“We watched Mercer play — they dropped one to South Shore before us,” Hodge said. “They are a heck of a hockey team and we are going to have our work cut out for us.”
