Mary E. Bamford

LISBON – Mary E. Bamford (Pease), 76, formerly of Auburn passed peacefully at The Lamp Memory Care Center in Lisbon, Maine on Feb. 19, 2023 after a courageous struggle with Alzheimer’s. She was predeceased in 2016 by her husband and soulmate, John E. Bamford. They resided for decades at their home on Hotel Road in Auburn. Together they enjoyed daily walks by the airport, square and round dancing with friends, as well as a prior membership to the Maine Antique Power Association, and Good Sam Camping clubs. In retirement they enjoyed their summers at their cottage on Prince Edward Island, Canada.

Mary grew up on Gamage Avenue in Auburn, the daughter of Ernest and Virginia Pease (Sherman), with siblings David Pease, and Ernestine Gilbert (Pease). She graduated from Edward Little High School, class of 1964. She is survived by her children Woody and wife. Judy Gould of Oxford; Carl Dill of Auburn; and Johnna and husband, Paul Ferland of Poland. She unfailingly loved all the grandchildren, Joshua and Benjamin Gould; Christian, Elizabeth and Hannah Dill; and Cadence and Emily Ferland. She also loved the staff and children at Sherwood Heights Elementary School in Auburn, where she worked in the cafeteria for many years.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Lamp Memory Care Center for there kindness and caring over the last several years.

Services will be held at Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home 305 Alfred Plourde Parkway in Lewiston with visitation on Monday February 27, from 3-7 p.m., and the Funeral on Tuesday February 28, at 1 p.m. You may offer condolences or share memories at http://www.lynchbrothers.com.
