Paul E. Ramsey
HANOVER – Paul E. Ramsey, 90, died Tuesday Feb. 21, 2023, at the Rumford Hospital.
Born in Waterville, on Nov. 16, 1932, he was the son of Kenneth and Bertha (Pinkham) Ramsey.
Paul graduated University of Maine at Farmington after serving in the USAF. He was an Acadia National Park Ranger for many happy summers where he met his future wife, Lynne Mitchell, and started raising a family after their marriage. After completing his BA, the family moved to the Rumford area, settling in Hanover where he resided for the rest of his life.
Paul’s interests and work experiences were wide ranging, from teacher to EMT to Gould Academy security guard. His fondest memories were of working in Acadia and at Sunday River in many capacities including Ski Patrol and Mountain Ambassador.
Paul’s great loves were his family, skiing and sail boating. He realized a lifelong dream when he and Lynne sailed their 30 foot sloop “Chaos” from Lake Champlain to its berth in Searsport. Paul was a member of the Rumford Point Congregational Church.
Survivors include Lynne, his wife of 62 years, a daughter Lisa Ferguson and husband John Deveneau of Silver Lake, N.H., and a son, Stephen Ramsey and wife Francine of North Ferrisburgh, Vt., a sister Joan Small of Brewer, a brother-in-law David Marley of Portland, grandchildren, Eric and Ian Ferguson, Jesse Deveneau and Eleanor White, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Phyllis Marley, his sister-in-law Diane Welch and beloved grandson, Mitchell Ramsey.

Graveside services will be held in the summer at the Hanover Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Meader & Son Funeral Home 3 Franklin St Rumford, ME.
