Ernest F. Latham Sr.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Ernest F. Latham Sr., 86, of Auburn, Maine, and Largo, Fla., died unexpectedly on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023. He was the husband of the late Constance Guy. They had been married for 64 years when she passed away in May of 2022.

Born in Gray on April 14, 1936, he was the son of Frederick and Adelaide (Soule) Latham. Ernie was a hard-working man, He was dedicated to his job and to taking care of his family. An over the road truck driver for many years, he eventually began driving for a local company, Union Camp, until his retirement in 1997. He loved his job and won awards for competing in local truck rodeos.

Ernie loved country music, particularly the sound of his old six string acoustic guitar. He owned many and played them with enthusiasm. He could occasionally be seen letting loose on the dance floor, kicking up his heels to his favorite songs. His exuberant personality was infectious, and he was loved by all those who knew him.

Spending time with his family was Ernie’s greatest joy. He could often be found sitting on the family swing in the yard of the lake home in which he and Connie raised their children. He will be greatly missed by family, friends and Neighbors.

He is survived by his eight children: Diane (Terry) Dorsey, Debra (Greg) McLoughlin, Ernest Jr ( Penny) Latham, Danny (Diane) Latham, David (Twilla) Latham, JoAnn (Tracy) Cloutier, Teri Latham and Larry (Amy) Latham. Ernie was blessed with 20 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren (and another on the way. Ernie is survived by a brother, Frederick (JoAnne) Latham.

Ernie was predeceased by a sister Wilhelmina, a brother Alfred, brother-in-law Larry Guy and a great grandson.

A celebration of Life for both Ernie and Connie will be celebrated in August 2023.
