WEST PARIS — Worship services at the First Universalist Church of West Paris, 208 Main St., are scheduled for 9 a.m. Sundays.

Tom Coolidge will perform music, and refreshments will follow the service, according to a news release from Suzanne Dunham, clerk, board member and publicity.

March 5, “Three Remarkable Women,” led by guest speaker Cynthia Reedy. Since Wednesday, March 8 is International Women’s Day and March is Women’s History Month, Reddy’s sermon on this Sunday will celebrate the lives of three women from the Bible. Though over 40 generations are listed in the genealogy of Jesus, only five women, including Mary, are included in the list. Why were these women singled out? This sermon will tell the stories of two “listed” women along with a few others of note.

March 12, “Blessing Our Many Masculinities,” led by the Rev. Fayre Stephenson. One often considers the many obstacles women face as they seek fulfillment and equal opportunities in society. Not so often are the obstacles men face considered. On this Sunday what it means to be masculine in the world today will be explored.

March 19, “A Mainer’s Witnesses to Ukraine’s Crisis ~ The humanitarian kindness/war atrocity contrast and the people in the middle.” Guest George Fox will speak on his three humanitarian relief visits to Ukraine last year, including accounts of delivering aid into formerly occupied parts of the Donetsk region of the Donbas. His presentation is the sermon portion of the service.

Fox resides in Bethel. He is also a volunteer with Maine Adaptive Sports and Recreation.

March 26, “Why Do Humanists Come to Church?,” led by Stephenson. Humanists reject supernatural frameworks for creating meaning or morality, and yet they come to Unitarian Universalist churches. People can join this Sunday and find out why.
