Mary Hunter, violin, and James Parakilas, piano, will perform chamber music at the Oasis of Music beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, at the new LA Arts gallery in Lewiston. Trinity Church, the traditional home of the Oasis of Music, is undergoing some interior renovations, and is planning to host programs again in the next few weeks.
The all-Bach program will begin with Prelude and Fugue in D minor from Book II of the Well Tempered Clavier played on piano, followed by works for solo violin, Loure and Gavotte en Rondeau from the E major Partita. To conclude the duo have prepared Sonata III in E for Violin and Keyboard.
The Oasis of Music is a weekly music series of performances of roughly thirty minutes, running from September to May. Admission is free, with donations accepted. The musical genres vary greatly, in largely, but not exclusively, acoustic formats. COVID restrictions of optional mask-wearing and social distancing are observed. LA Arts gallery is located at 168 Lisbon St., Lewiston. For more information, call 207-344-3106.
