James E. Keough Jr.
BATH – James E. Keough Jr., 84, of Topsham, passed away Sunday morning Feb. 19, 2023, at the Winship Green Center for Health and Rehabilitation. He was born in Bangor on Aug. 6, 1938, one of two children born to James E. and Phyllis (Crossman) Keough. Jim grew up in South Portland and attended Cheverus High School.
Following high school, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp and served his country until his Honorable Discharge.
After some years away, living in different places and then furthering his education in Washington D.C., Jim returned to the South Portland area and ultimately to Lewiston-Auburn where he met his future wife, Mary Greenleaf. They married in June of 1995 and together they settled in Lewiston and Jim went on to work in Mary’s family’s business, Saunders’ Florist and Village Gourmet. They expanded the business to include an extensive selection of wines and gourmet foods and cheeses. They also hosted wine tastings and dinners.
Mary predeceased Jim in June of 2021 after 26 years of marriage. Among Jim’s favorite hobbies and enjoyments were photography, hunting and continuously learning and expanding his vast knowledge of all types of wines and hosting wine-related events and gatherings. Jim will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his sister Diane Bowser and her husband Chuck of Topsham; three children, a daughter Kimberlee and two sons Kevin and Patrick and his wife Olga; two grandchildren Paul and Nicole and one nephew Casey Bowser and wife Rachael of Brunswick.
At Jim’s prior request, a graveside service will take place in the Spring at Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
