The city of Lewiston has announced a winter parking ban, due to start at midnight and continue until 11 p.m. Saturday, March 4.

During a winter parking ban, it is imperative that vehicles be removed from all Lewiston streets before snow commences. This enables the Lewiston Public Works Department to remove snow as soon as possible.

Free parking is available at the following Lewiston parking garages during a parking ban, with the Southern Gateway Garage, 425 Lisbon St., suggested first for best availability. Others include: Centreville Garage, 62 Canal St.; Chestnut Street Garage, 29 Chestnut St.; Lincoln Street Garage, 16 Lincoln St.; and Oak Street Garage, 1 Oak St.

Vehicles that are not removed from Lewiston streets will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Due to the storm, on Saturday the Lewiston Public Library, 200 Lisbon St., and the Solid Waste Facility at 420 River Road will be closed. In addition, there will be no programming/activities at the Lewiston Recreation Department.

The Lewiston City Hall tower lights at 27 Pine St. will flash during a parking ban. In addition, Lewiston’s web site, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter will have parking ban notifications.

Individuals also may sign up to receive a text or email notification by visiting lewistonmaine.gov and clicking on Notify ME.
