Nothing like fresh powder Andy Gagne Photography

Stashes of fresh powder, neon snowsuits, foam glow sticks, young and old dancing, streams of red lights descending Grey Ghost, and pops of color in the frigid night sky made up the scene at Saddleback’s 2nd Annual February Festival on Friday, February 24, 2023. All day long the mountain was buzzing with activity, from skiers carving turns up and down the hill to an ice sculpture and face painting at the base area, plus the dance party in the Pub with Maine’s 12/OC Band.

This is the second season Saddleback and Skowhegan Savings have hosted February Festival and the event keeps growing every year. The Torchlight Parade kicked off later in the evening with over 75 participants lining Grey Ghost with red neon lights. The line started to form a snake as the skiers and riders slowly came down Grey Ghost while a crowd watched from the base area. Parade participants formed a long line at the base of Wheeler Slope while the crowd cheered. Shortly after, fireworks began to go off, lighting up the base area in vibrant streams of purple, yellow, red, and green.
