LEWISTON — A man delivering pizzas was assaulted and robbed early Sunday by as many as five assailants, police said.
A driver for a local Papa John’s Pizza restaurant was dispatched to the area of 315 Bates St. shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday when he was robbed of a pizza warming bag, any food and his cellphone, according to Lt. Derrick St. Laurent.
The suspects went through the man’s pockets before fleeing the scene, St. Laurent said.
The 35-year-old driver returned to the restaurant to report the incident.
He was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries and released, police said.
There is an ongoing investigation, St., Laurent said, that includes reviewing video footage from street cameras.
The suspects were last seen running toward the Knox Street area, St. Laurent said.
