100 Years Ago: 1923

Owing to the severe storm yesterday, no session of Androscoggin Pomona Grange was held. A few members of Lake View grange who were to be the hosts gathered at the hall where an informal program was carried out and  dinner was enjoyed.

50 Years Ago: 1973

(From an AP wire photo) Navy Lt. Cmdr. Carpenter of Springvale, Maine, accompanied by his wife Caroline, waves to a crowd at Logan International Airport Wednesday night in Boston. Carpenter after six years of captivity In a North Vietnam prison camp said, “There’s no place like home. I feel just great. It’s wonderful to be home.” He was driven to the naval hospital at Chelsea, Mass., for medical tests and debriefing.

25 Years Ago: 1998
