Cheston L. Spiller

NORWAY – Cheston L. Spiller, 87, of Norway, passed peacefully, on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023, at Androscoggin Hospice House.

He was born Sept. 24, 1935, in Mechanic Falls, to Bernard and Harriet Keene Spiller. Graduated from Mechanic Falls High School in 1953 and served in the U.S. Air Force from May 1958 to May 1962. Over the years, he was employed at Dane-T-Bits Biscuit Co., Shaw’s Supermarkets, and the Maine Bureau of Alcoholic Beverages, retiring in 1996.

After retiring he worked at several golf courses as a course ranger.

He and Linda enjoyed wintering in Zephyrhills, Fla., for over 20 years. He was a kind and caring person who always took the time to listen, as well as tell a good story or two. His pastimes included golfing, bowling, spending time with family, and enjoying the outdoors. He was a member of the Paris Hill Country Club, in Paris, for many years.

He is survived by his life companion Linda Morris of Norway; brother Leighton Spiller of Las Vegas; his three children, Tina Gagne and her husband Donnie of Mechanic Falls, Tami Stewart and her husband Bob of Wales, Timothy Spiller and his wife Megan of Auburn; Linda’s two children, Brian Morris and his companion Jaclyn of Norway, and Lori Morris of Lewiston; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; and four of his brothers, Willard, Carleton, Glendon, and Rodney.

A private family graveside service will be held this summer at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Auburn.
