Richard Vaughan “Dick” Bibber
KENNEBUNK – Richard Vaughan “Dick” Bibber, owner and C.E.O of Bibber Memorial Chapels passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at his home in Kennebunk, Maine, surrounded by his family.
Dick was well known and loved by many, and he passionately served the communities of Southern Maine, even through his last days. He touched thousands of lives during his decades of service to his communities and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Dick was a member of several associations for funeral directors including Maine Funeral Directors Association (past president), Maine State Board of Funeral Service (serving as chairman of the board) and a former board member of Selected Independent Funeral Homes serving as President in 2004-2005.
He was a current member, past President and Paul Harris Fellow of Kennebunk Rotary. Dick was past Potentate of Kora Shrine in 1997. He formerly served as a selectman of the town of Kennebunk. A native of Kennebunkport, Dick was a volunteer with the Kennebunkport and Kennebunk Fire Departments of which he served as Kennebunk’s deputy chief. He served as a member of the board of trustees of Kennebunk Savings for 25 years, ending his tenure as Chairman of the Board.
Visiting hours will be held at Bibber Memorial Chapel (67 Summer St., Kennebunk) on Monday, March 13, 2023, from 1- 3:30 p.m., and 6- 8 p.m. Masonic Memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m., by the Brethren of Arundel Lodge #76 AF&AM.
A funeral service for Dick will take place on Tuesday March 14, 2023, at Saint Martha’s Church (30 Portland Road, Kennebunk) at 1p.m., with burial at Arundel Cemetery to follow.
