FRYEBURG — A couple escaped their burning home on Kids Corner Road on Thursday afternoon, but they weren’t able to return because of extensive damage.
Neighbors said the home is occupied by the Parmenter family.
Nobody was hurt in the blaze.
The cause was being investigated by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
About 1 p.m., Fryeburg fire crews were called to 4 Kids Corner Road where they found the back of the single-family ranch-style home fully ablaze.
Firefighters called for CMP to cut power to the home. They also requested mutual aid from fire departments in Lovell, Hiram, Brownfield and Sweden, as well as East Conway and Conway, New Hampshire.
Firefighters knocked down the flames in less than an hour, but the house was extensively damaged and the couple was unable to return there. They were being assisted later Thursday by the American Red Cross.
Kids Corner Road is a short dead end off Route 113, near the intersection at South Chatham Road.
