Gwendolyn Ellingwood

ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. – Gwendolyn Ellingwood of Zephryhills, Fla., and Eustis, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday Jan. 19, 2023, at their winter home in Betmar Village. She was 85 years old.

She was born on Feb. 4, 1937 in Paterson, N.J., and then moved to West Paris with her family as a child. She married the love of her life, David Ellingwood, on Sept. 23, 1956 and they spent 67 years together.

She loved going to Florida in the winter and would have to leave Maine at the very first hint of snow. She worked as a teacher’s aide and then spent many years as the town clerk of West Paris, a job that she enjoyed very much. Upon retirement, she and Dave moved up to Eustis for the summers and then would drive to Florida to spend the winters.

She leaves behind her husband, David; daughter, Pam (Donald), Lynda (Jim), and Michael (Sarah). She also leaves four grandchildren, Erik (Alyson), Daniel (Erin), Kyle, Ty; and her very first great-grandchild, Mackenzie, with whom she got to spend this Christmas with and loved dearly.

There will be no funeral per her wishes.
