Philip R. Lapointe
AUBURN – Philip R. Lapointe of Auburn passed away peacefully at Clover Manor on March 17, 2023. Born in Auburn, April 7, 1930, he was the son of Ethel (Irene) and Ronaldo Lapointe.
Phil served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954. Upon his return from Germany, he met the love of his life, Lorraine A. Champagne of Lewiston at a local dance. They married on Nov. 12, 1955.
After he retired from Pineland Hospital, Phil spent many summers lobstering on his boat, the “Nikki B”. Phil was an avid gardener and would offer anyone that came to his house “the grand-tour” of his farm. He displayed his produce at the Cumberland Fair for over 20 years. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and wood-working. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lorraine Lapointe; his daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Ted Christie, his son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Samantha Lapointe; his brother, Wilfred Lapointe; niece Rachel Lapointe, nephew Larry Lapointe;, and four loving grandchildren, Nicole Lapointe Haeberle, Nick Gagnon, Maxwell Lapointe and Riley Lapointe.
