LEWISTON — A woman accused of abducting her daughter last week, triggering an Amber Alert, was arrested Thursday on a warrant from Sagadahoc County on a charge of criminal restraint by a parent, according to Lewiston Police Department Lt. Derrick St. Laurent.
Police said Danielle Dyer, 29, abducted her 11-year-old daughter March 19 from her foster parents’ home in Topsham during a supervised visit. Topsham police asked state police around 8:45 p.m. for the Amber Alert, which was activated at 10:46 p.m.
State police tracked Dyer’s phone to the area of Horton Street in Lewiston, but were not able to locate her or her daughter. At 10:59 p.m., an unidentified Auburn woman called authorities to tell them Dyer had left her daughter with her. Dyer’s daughter was recovered unharmed and the Amber Alert was deactivated at 11:07 p.m.
On Thursday, St. Laurent said Dyer was seen by officers who were familiar with her sitting on an apartment stoop in Lewiston, but she attempted to give a false name and resisted arrest. She was charged with refusing to submit to arrest with physical force, failing to provide a correct name, address and date of birth and violating conditions of release, St. Laurent said.
