Virginia “Babe”(Gammon) Hanson

NORWAY – Virginia “Babe”(Gammon) Hanson, 103, passed away on March 27, 2023, at the Norway Center for Health and Rehabilitation, she was born Sept. 13, 1919, in East Sumner a daughter of the late James and Ida (Benson) Gammon.

Virginia attended and graduated from the local school system. She worked as a secretary for Buckfield, Packing, Bessey Foods, Maine Apple Growers and the L.P. Farms in Turner, was also the town tax collector for Turner.

She was married and predeceased by her beloved husband, Lynn Bangs.

She married Howard “Champ” Earl Hanson on Nov. 11, 1942. And they were married for 49 years until his passing.

She was predeceased by her loving parents, James and Ida Gammon, her beloved husbands, Lynn Bangs and Howard “Champ” Hanson.

She is survived by her loving sons Lynn Bangs Jr. and Jay Hanson and daughter Sherry Hanson, as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
