AUBURN- Marie V. Doyon, 98, passed away peacefully at Androscoggin Hospice on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. She was born in Beauceville, Quebec, Canada on Dec. 4, 1924, to Wilfred Roy and Olivine Gagne, the oldest of eight children. In 1944 she married Champlain Veilleux and together they had four children. The family moved to Lisbon, Maine in 1954. Marie was an excellent cook, seamstress, and knitter.

While raising her four children she managed and did the bookkeeping for her husband’s businesses until his passing in 1973. She then volunteered at Saint Mary’s Hospital for seventeen years. During that time, she traveled around the country with her sister-in-law, Beatrice and spent time in Quebec visiting her family.

On July 12, 1993, she married Marcel Doyon of Auburn, Maine and they continued living at her residence in Lisbon. They shared fourteen happy years together until his passing Oct. 9, 2006.

She then moved to Saint Mary’s Residences (Maison Marcotte). She lived there seventeen years and made many friends both with the residents and staff. Marie maintained a great faith in God throughout her life. She deeply loved her family and was most happy when they were visiting.

The family wishes to thank St. Mary’s Residences Director Larry Morin and Assistant Celine Gibbings for their exceptional attention to Marie.

She is survived by her children Gilles Veilleux (Claire), Roger Veilleux (Carol Shimko), Odette Veilleux (John Marshall), and Diane Conroy. Grandsons, Marc Veilleux, Richard Veilleux and Eric Spencer and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Also, her brother Paul-Emile, sister Lise and special friend Georgette Ayotte.

A Funeral Mass honoring Marie’s life will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m., at Holy Trinity Church in Lisbon. Committal services will be held later in the Spring at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Lisbon.
