SABATTUS — The second annual Community Resource Fair is set for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 30, at Oak Hill Middle School, 30 Ball Park Road.

The event is sponsored by the Community Cares Backpack Program, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide meals to children who may be dealing with food insecurity in Wales, Sabattus and Litchfield when school meals are not available, such as during weekends and vacations.

The fair is free for all and focused on families, individuals, seniors, and everyone in between. The fair aims to connect local and surrounding resources to community members to ensure they have what they need to thrive.

Rural communities get lost in the shuffle of politics, and organizers want to make sure communities know that they are not forgotten and provide hope, according to a news release from Hannah Dieterich, program executive director.

Organizations in attendance include Community Concepts, Health Affiliates, Healthy Androsocggin, Liberty Bay Recovery, Seniorsplus, the Sabattus American Legion, and Sabattus Regional Credit Union.

There will be two food trucks present, donation-based haircuts, raffle prizes, face painting, a food drive, a book swap and Mr. Drew from 1-2 p.m.

For more information, find the event on the school’s Facebook page or call the Community Cares Backpack Program at 207-391-2825.
