The Church of the Good Shepherd, an Episcopal faith community located at 2614 Main Street in Rangeley, will celebrate Holy Week beginning on Palm Sunday, April 2, and culminating on Easter Day, April 9. In this sacred week, the church especially remembers and reflects on God’s great gifts of forgiveness, grace, and redemption through the passion, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Church of the Good Shepherd invites and
welcomes you, no matter where you are on your journey of faith, to the following services:
Palm Sunday, April 2, 7:30 AM and 9:30 AM – a service remembering Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem; to include a liturgy of the palms and service of Holy Eucharist.
Maundy Thursday, April 6, 6:00 PM – a reflective service commemorating the institution of the Holy Eucharist, and the Mandatum novum (New Commandment) Jesus gave his disciples: “Love one another.” The service will conclude with the stripping of the altar.
Good Friday, April 7, 12:00 Noon – on this most solemn day we reflect on the cross at Golgotha and Jesus’ last words; to include the reading of St. John’s Passion, and chanted ancient prayers unique to the liturgy of the day.
Easter Day, April 9, 8:30 AM – a joyful service celebrating Jesus’ glorious resurrection; to include a Festal Holy Eucharist, with special music as well as familiar hymns and readings. Fellowship and light refreshments will follow in the Undercroft.
