Joseph T. Rafferty Jr.

LEWISTON – Joseph T. Rafferty Jr., 79, of Turner, ME passed away on Monday March 27, 2023, at CMMC in Lewiston. He was born in Boston, on Aug. 27, 1943, a son of the late Joseph Rafferty, Sr. and Alice (Kelleher) Rafferty. He grew up and attended schools in the Brighton, Mass., area. He was a graduate of Northeastern University earning a bachelor’s in engineering and an MBA.

After graduating, Joe enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country. Joe and family relocated from his military station in Arizona, to Hampton, New Hampshire, to continue in the engineering field (Towle Silversmiths). Later, he moved to Gill, MA (Lunt Silversmiths) where he met and married Anna Ford in 1998. The two of them enjoyed several years there before moving to Turner, Maine in 2010 where they would stay for good. Joe enjoyed dancing, traveling, and golf. He was a fan of the Red Sox and Patriots.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Rafferty of Turner, his children; James Rafferty (Tracy) of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Lauriann Galvao (Ari) of Whitestown, Ind., Karen Rafferty (Josh) of Troncones, Mexico, Kathleen Rafferty of Maui, Hawaii, Linda Simones (James) of Greene, and Thomas Millett (Priscilla) of Waterville. He also leaves behind his brother, John Rafferty (Sheila) of Albert Bridge, Nova Scotia, Canada. He was predeceased by his first wife, Jo-Ellen (Maraghy) Rafferty. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren Derek, Joseph, Brandon, Andrew, Arianna, James, Sophia, and Graham.
