Pepsi has spent the majority of his 10 years on this earth as an apprentice to three evil witches. He spent his days foraging for different items that they could use in their potions. He was a very good apprentice and would never get in trouble, until one day he accidentally mistook cranberries for holly. The witches were outraged when they heard of this horror.

They spent the evening baking a batch of cookies to give to Pepsi as a “peace offering” to say it was okay for his mistake, but in reality they had sabotaged the cookies with an evil potion. Pepsi spent the next couple of hours curled up in his bed eating the delicious cookies the witches had prepared for him. As he ate more and more, he began to feel funny and when he looked back at his tail, he noticed it had fallen off!

Furious with the witches, he packed his bag full of his favorite toys and treats and headed off for a new start. He wandered for what seemed like months and eventually came across a big green building. He could never prepare himself for what he found on the inside.

It was a wonderful kingdom called ‘Responsible Pet Care’, full of magical fairies. He met a wonderful fairy who examined him all over and healed the area where his tail had been. She gave him a daily elixir to help with the long-term side effects of the witch’s potion. He will need to continue taking this medicine twice a day for the rest of his life.

Pepsi is now 10 years old and since July of 2022, he has happily lived among all the other cats and dogs who have traveled from near and far to get help. Although he is very happy at RPC, he is ready to find his forever kingdom to spend the rest of his days. You can meet sweet Pepsi during our open hours or by appointment on other days.

Responsible Pet Care of Oxford Hills is a no-kill, non-profit shelter and adoption center for cats and dogs, and the holding area for stray dogs for 12 towns in Oxford County. The shelter is located at 9 Swallow Road in Paris and is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. (Other days by appointment). Responsible Pet Care operates a thrift shop called Pawsibilities. It is located at 132 Waterford Road in Norway and is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Donations of clean, usable household items are accepted during shop hours.
