Kervin Davis Ray
AUBURN – It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Kervin Davis Ray on April 3, 2023.
Kervin Davis Ray was born in New Gloucester, on April 7, 1929. He was the son of Norman G. Ray and Gladys Lawrence Ray. He attended Edward Little High School, graduating in the class of 1947. He attended Portland Jr. College. He was active in sports, including skiing and basketball. He served in the Coast Guard from 1951-1954.
In 1952 he married Lorraine Pickle. He was employed with Hannaford Brothers South Portland for 35 years in various positions. He was Vice President with Doug’s Shop and Save Stores in the Bangor area and was active in United Way there.
He retired at the age of 60 and he and Lorraine moved to Florida. He loved to play golf everyday.
He was predeceased by both his parents, brother Bradford, and beloved wife Lorraine. He is survived by four daughters, Lorna Ray and her husband John Napoli, Lynn Jarvie and husband Alex, Kim Ray and husband Frank Pinto, and Leslie Deschesne and husband Mark. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Kervin was a very grateful and loving man with his friends and family. He was always kind and had words of wisdom for anyone willing to visit him. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Schooner Estates over the past few years who made Kervin’s final years safe and comfortable. A special thanks to the Elite private nursing staff that always were available for extra hours and really took special care of Kervin, and to the Beacon Hospice staff. Kervin was a favorite of all the staff that got to interact with him. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
