Therese Rejane Asselin

LEWISTON – On April 4, 2023, loving wife, mother, and friend, Therese Rejane Asselin, 63, of Turner, Maine, joined her mother Marlene Fortier, memere and pepere Narcisse and Yvonne Caron, godparents Rejane and Roger Proulx, and memere Bernadette Gardner as promised in heaven with our Lord.

Therese was born July 22, 1959, to Marlene Fortier and Maurice Lamontagne. She married “Ronnie” Ronald Asselin on Aug. 31, 1979. They had 43 great years of partnership and friendship together. (Not long enough!) They loved each other very much. Therese enjoyed spending time with her two children and grandchildren.

Therese’s “life was her kids.” She would always say that. She was very proud of her daughter, Heidi Ann, and son, Joseph Matthew Roger. And she let everyone know it. She dedicated her life to them. Trying as hard as she could to be the best mom she could be. Her heart was broken every time they would leave. She looked forward to going shopping, hiking, or out to eat with them. She enjoyed more than anything else telling them her opinion on everything! I am sure they will miss that.

Her love for her grandchildren Isabelle, Madeleine, Celia, and Emma was undeniable. She defended them even when she knew they were wrong. Saying that they needed someone to “go to bat for them.” Sleepovers and late nights with them watching movies made her very happy. Making whatever each wanted for breakfast showed them that each was special. And always, Boston, her puppy, was by her side. Therese also enjoyed doing her life’s work as a homemaker and always taking the best care of Ronnie. Her talent for house decorating was second to none! In addition, she had a passion for following current events. Daily conversations with Ronnie were both of their highlight of the day. They always seemed to agree. Not really!

Therese temporarily leaves behind her lonely husband Ronnie, daughter Heidi, son Capt. Joseph Asselin, her four granddaughters, brother Roland Lamontagne, sister Judy Murray, nieces, nephews, godchildren Cory and Destiny, and best friend, Vickey Rioux.

A prayer service will take place in the chapel at Saint Peter’s Catholic Cemetery on Monday April 10, at 11 a.m.
