Richard J. Ducharme

LEWISTON – Richard J. Ducharme, 90, of Lewiston passed away at his home on Thursday March 30, 2023. He was born on Dec. 16, 1932, in Lewiston a son of Adrain and Bernadette (Lapointe) Ducharme. He grew up in the Lewiston area and attended local schools.

After school, Richard enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Lewiston where he would marry his first wife and had two sons. During that time he worked as a carpenter under Paul Couture and was President of the Carpenter’s Union. He also was a truck driver for Apollo’s Trading Post. He then later worked as a butcher for L&C Market “Blackies” for several years before his retirement.

Richard was a member of the American Legion in Lewiston as well as a past member of the South End Club. He will always be remembered for his love of fishing, hunting, playing cards and camping at Sebago. He was also a very devoted New England sports fan, always rooting for the Bruins, Red Sox and Patriots. He will be sadly missed by many.

He is survived by his longtime companion of 47 years, Pauline Ouellette of Auburn, his children; Richard J. Ducharme, Jr. and his wife Sally of Virginia, Linda Pushard and her husband Tiger of Auburn, and a brother, Oneil Ducharme of Florida. He also leaves behind his beloved seven grandchildren; Derek, Danielle, Bradley, Megan, Tyler, Logan and Lucas. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his former wife, Ruth Martin, his two sons, Ronnie Ducharme and David Ouellette, his four brothers and his two sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial with Marine Corp Military Honors will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Auburn on Tuesday May 30, 2023 at 11 a.m. Interment will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Lewiston at a later date.
