The Lewiston-Auburn Optimist Club, Gray-New Gloucester Optimist Club, and Tri Town Optimist Club of Mechanic Falls, Minot and Poland, seek volunteers to join them for one hour on Saturday, April 22 — Earth Day — to pick up trash in neighborhoods.
Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of one hour to pick up trash; they can pick their own times to start and end.
They can possibly win a restaurant coupon for a meal from a local participating restaurant, according to a news release from George Mathews, Lewiston-Auburn club president.
People can ask family, friends, schoolmates or neighbors to help and then contact any optimist club member, email gwmathews91@gmail.com, or call 207-783-5269 for more information or to register to win a restaurant gift certificate.
The rain date is Sunday, April 23.
