WATERFORD, Conn. – Rev. Charles J. Simones, 91, of Waterford, Conn., passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2023 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London, Conn.

He was born in Lewiston on Jan. 30, 1932, the son of Demetrios and Alice Lambrew Simones. He was married to Joan Canacaris in Bath on Sept. 28, 1958.

Besides his wife Joan he is survived by two sons, Thomas C. and Gregory C. Simones; as well as many nieces and nephews in the Lewiston area.

Visiting hours will be held at St. Sophia Hellenic Orthodox Church, 200 Hempstead St, New London, from 4 until 6 p.m., Thursday, April 20. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. A Matins and Divine Liturgy will be held at the church on Friday morning, April 21, from 8 to 10 a.m. A visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until the start of a Paschal Funeral for a Priest at 11 a.m.
