A Hollywood production crew is grabbing up rooms and houses in MidCoast Maine to accommodate actors and others working on a movie starring Paul Newman and Kevin Costner.
Joseph Byrnes, general manager of the Holiday Inn in Bath, said he has guaranteed 100 rooms to TIG Productions, the company that next month will begin filming “Message In A Bottle.” The rooms, Byrnes was told, will be booked for about two months. Some guests have already begun to arrive. “They actually wanted 160 rooms,” Brynes said. “I could only guarantee 100.”
Businesses throughout the midcoast are reaping the economic benefits of the Maine movie production. Homes and cottages are being rented, bed-and-breakfasts are preparing to handle the overflow from the Holiday Inn, lumber yards are filling orders for set materials, and craftsmen are being hired for one of the fastest-moving productions ever to come to Maine.
The material used in Looking Back is produced exactly as it originally appeared although misspellings and errors may be corrected.
