Ronald A. Davis
NAPLES, Fla./ WELD – Ronald A. Davis, 73, of Naples and Weld, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 9, 2023 with wife Gayle and son Michael by his side. His battle with cancer, though brief, proved to be insurmountable.
Ron was born July 10, 1949 to Victor S. Davis and Frieda Bessey Davis of Canton. He attended Canton schools and graduated from Dirigo High School in 1967, where he met Gayle (Gagnon) Davis, the love of his life for the past 56 years. They raised a son, Michael, who married Gina Semeraro of Long Island, N.Y., and blessed them with two grandchildren, Katelyn and Spencer — the lights of their lives.
Following high school, Ron pursued undergraduate studies at University of Maine at Portland-Gorham (now University of Southern Maine). He started his career as a CPA with a national firm in Portland. He completed graduate studies at Harvard Business School and eventually formed his own real estate development company, Davis Property Group, in Quincy, Mass. Ron believed in going after what he wanted in life, and his strong work ethic played an important role in his motivation to succeed. Retired in 2011, Ron and Gayle moved to Naples, Fla., where they have spent 13 wonderful winters. During the summer, they reside in Weld where they have owned a summer home since 1984. Ron had been known to say that he had “the best of both worlds.”
Ron’s love of family was motivation enough to travel from Florida to New York (where Michael and family reside) to Maine frequently. He never missed an opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren.
Passions included golf; cooking; gardening and hiking in Weld; and helping to preserve Webb Lake through his affiliation with Webb Lake Association, holding various offices throughout the years. Ron was extremely competitive and loved fierce rounds of golf with his son and grandson!
In addition to Gayle and Michael, Ron is survived by older brother, Steve and wife Robyn of Prospect, Ky., younger brother, Randy and wife Laura of Embden, younger sister, Peggy and husband Mike of Jefferson, sister-in-law, Donna (Gagnon) Park of Dixfield; and many nieces/nephews; and great-nieces/nephews on both sides.
A celebration of Ron’s life will be held for family members in Weld over the summer. Details will be announced at a later date.
