Paul A. Martel
LEWISTON – Paul A. Martel, 85, of 13 Fox Run Drive, Lewiston, died Sunday, April 16, 2023, at the Hospice House in Auburn following a long illness.
Born in Lewiston on Aug. 24, 1937, he was the son of William and Maria Pomerleau Martel Sr. Educated locally, he attended Holy Cross School and St. Dominic’s High School. He married the love of his life, the former Joline J. Albert, on May 16, 1959.
Paul worked for several years at Belgrade Shoe, and then Pioneer Plastics, retiring in 2001. After retiring, he went to work part-time as a greeter at Walmart, and was the Santa there for many years. He enjoyed singing, tending his flowers, and talking to people, but he especially loved time spent with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of Holy Cross Church, Prince of Peace Parish.
He is survived by his loving wife of Lewiston; a son, Jean of Auburn, two daughters, Linda and husband Doug Nash of Lewiston, and Louise of Lewiston; a brother, William Jr. of Lewiston, a sister, Michelle and husband Conrad Robitaille of Lewiston; and two grandchildren, Brian Nash and Noah Martel.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by four sisters, Georgette Mathieu, Jacqueline Drapeau, and Pearl and Monique Martel, and a brother, Robert.
Services will be held at the Albert and Burpee Funeral Home on Saturday, April 22, with visitation from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., followed by a Liturgy of the Word Service at 2 p.m. Interment, St. Peter’s Cemetery.
