A Lewiston native, Richard graduated from Lewiston High School in 1966 before attending the electrical program at CMVTI from 1966 to 1968. He enlisted in the Navy and proudly served his country from 1968 to 1971.

After leaving the military, he began working for Central Maine Power, retiring in 2018 after 47 years of employment there. Richard was an avid reader of WWII military history and loved classic cars. Although he chose the name “Grumpy” for himself, he was a tenderhearted, loving, and generous grandfather.

He leaves behind six grandchildren, Lilly, Kate, Sam, Molly, Sophie and Lexi; and one great-granddaughter, Aden.

He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Muguette Bourget; and sister, Louise Canedy.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.

Richard will be greatly missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Rest in peace.
