Davin Thomas Currie

HAWAII – Davin Thomas Currie, 35, passed away on March 27, 2023, from complications of accidental drowning while surfing in Hawaii. He was born at home in South Paris, Maine on April 2, 1987.

He graduated from Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School in 2005. He was an excellent student. In his junior year, he became an exchange student and lived with a host family in Fortaleza, Brazil. While there, he attended school, studied Portuguese, and traveled in the Amazon Basin. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine at Farmington in 2009.

Davin worked in the family pottery business and in the insurance industry.

While traveling in the Northwest he worked with Friends of the Columbia River on water preservation. He later became self-employed as a web designer and freelance artist. Davin loved life and always had an adventuresome spirit. He had a wide range of interests, including travel, biking, snowboarding, music, photography, and nature.

Davin is survived by his brother Matthew Currie, his mother Elena Laughton, his father Scott Currie, his maternal grandmother Joyce Stevens, his aunt Linda DeHart, and his uncle Arthur Stowe.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Thomas and Alice Currie, and his uncle Christopher Currie.

A private family service will be held to honor our dear Davin.
