Maine Warden Service officials rescued a 65-year-old woman who was lost behind her house for more than five hours Wednesday night.
According to a press release, Helen Baillie took her dog for a walk around 7 p.m. in the woods behind her residence off Arundel Road in Kennebunkport.

At about 7:30 p.m., Baillie’s husband, who was at home, was notified that someone had located the dog about a mile and a half from the house, but his wife was not with the dog. The husband immediately called 911 and reported her missing.
Local police responded and searched the roads but could not find Baillie and contacted the warden service for help. Using GPS coordinates to approximate the location of her cell phone, two wardens walked into the woods, only to find that her phone had been abandoned roughly 500 yard from the house.
At that point, the wardens called for assistance from a trained search dog. The dog, Storm, and Warden Chad Robertson picked up Baillie’s scent around midnight and found her 15 minutes later, more than 5 hours after she had left.
When she was found, Baillie had discarded some of her clothes and was soaking wet from walking through the woods. Temperatures had dropped into the low 40s and she was cold and disoriented, according to the release.
Wardens assisted in walking Baillie out of the woods, where an ambulance was waiting. She was taken to a local hospital for evaluation but was not seriously hurt.
