To the Editor:
The Bethel Short-Term Residential Rental Ordinance is a solution in search of a problem. Does Bethel really need new government bureaucracy at the cost of $34,000 per year for additional oversight and micromanagement? Charging citizens, who already pay management companies to oversee any issues that arise, an additional tax is a fool’s errand, and effectively an attack on renters who bring significant business to the town. Yes, we can see the curveball coming.
