MONMOUTH – Patricia L. Hasch of Monmouth, Maine, passed away on March 30, 2023, at the age of 70 surrounded by her loving husband, children, and grandchildren after a downward spiral of complications following multiple strokes and seizures.

Tricia was predeceased by her mother Ruth (Ring) Scully, father Joseph Scully, and sister Kathleen Ruopp. She leaves behind her husband Kelvin Hasch of 44 years, sister Linda Scully, brothers Sean Scully and wife Beth, and Michael Scully and wife Sherry, daughter Elizabeth Gauthier and husband James, daughter Lisa Hasch, son Justin Hasch and significant other Deanna, son Bryon Hasch, 13 grandchildren (Lucas, Lucy, Natalie, Morgan, Josh, Danny, Emma, Devon, JP, Charlie, Bentley, Owen, and Matthew), five grand pups and many nieces and nephews.

Patricia was born on March 10, 1953, in Roslyn, New York. She went to school at Concordia College and graduated in 1975 with a Bachelors of Science in Education. Later while teaching full time and raising a family she attended University of Southern Maine and received her Masters of Science in 2005 in Teaching Special Education.

Patricia spent her life teaching many children in many areas. She started her career at Eltingville Lutheran School in 1977. After two years she moved to California in August of 1978 to teach at Good Shepherd Lutheran School in Inglewood, Calif.

Patricia met Kelvin for the first time in October 1978 on a blind date on the street corner by her school. They then went to the L.A. Dodgers World Series game. Patricia married Kelvin on June 23, 1979.

Patricia took a break from teaching in 1980 to start a family. In 1992 she returned to working and worked at Henry L. Cottrell School as an Educational Technician. In 1993 she started her career at Sabattus Elementary School as a Special Ed. Tech, becoming a Special Education Teacher, then teaching seventh and eighth grade language arts, Alternative Education, Gifted and Talented program, and finally returning to eighth grade language arts. She retired from Oak Hill Middle School in 2016. Patricia continued to stay involved by volunteering at the local schools doing crafts and baking.

Patricia spent over 20 years helping run programs for the children of Monmouth. Helping run the Little League and on the Monmouth Recreation Commission in the early 1990’s. She was chairperson of the Rec. Commission for the last 22 years.

Patricia enjoyed watching her children and then her grandchildren play sports, she loved swimming and spending time at the family camp, campfires, and family events where she’d bring her taco salad and famous desserts.

She spent her free time sewing and making blankets for family and friends, watching her favorite shows and movies, and spending time with her grandchildren playing dinosaurs, trucks, reading books, singing to them, and working with them on their school projects.

The family welcomes you to join them for her Celebration of Life on Saturday, June 17, 2023 from 2 – 5 p.m., at the Monmouth Rec. Building at 117 Academy Road in Monmouth, Maine.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Patricia Hasch Fund that has been created to enhance the opportunities of the youth to learn how to swim and become lifeguards.
