GREENE — Police are looking for information that might lead them to a suspect in a May 3 burglary at Farris Equipment on U.S. Route 202, an Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department spokesman said Tuesday.
Security camera footage, shared by the sheriff’s department, shows a man dressed in dark clothing with his face covered smashing a hammer into one side of the double front doors and entering the building. Video from inside the store shows the suspect yanking on a chainsaw to break it away from security ties. The force causes what appears to be a second chainsaw to come loose, and the suspect then leaves the building out the same door he entered.
In a Facebook post, the sheriff’s department said a vehicle, possibly a light colored Dodge Ram, was also seen on video outside the store at the same time of the burglary. Police believe a second person stayed behind in the truck, which was seen traveling on Patten Road toward the Greene Fire Station.
Deputies responded around 10:50 p.m.
“We’ve had a few leads come in since the (Facebook) post that our detective is following up on,” Sheriff Eric Samson said. “There may be a connection with recent burglaries in Monmouth and Leeds as they are similar, but all is still being investigated.”
Anyone with any information about the burglary can contact Detective Nathan McNally at 207-753-2566 or at [email protected].
